Not a blog about the kiddos this time, but about my husband and how he continues to surprise me and keep me guessing. Friday night my sister picked up the kiddos from daycare so we could have a date night (we returned the favor the next night so she could go to a concert). I started out by surprising Robert with Yanni tickets at home, he missed the show about two years ago and it's a show he has always wanted to see.
Very excited, he showered and shaved and we were on our way. We ended up at happy hour at the Funky Buddha, a place both of us had wanted to try. It was fun to sit in a booth together have apps and drinks and be able to talk without interruption. Instead of driving downtown to park I suggested taking a cab, this is what surprised me, and Robert got very excited. Letting me know that he loves to take taxis. What, who are you!?!?! I guess we really haven't been in places together where we have taken cabs...it was fun.
We went to Wells Fargo theater and saw Yanni, Robert was truly moved by the concert. He told me that Yanni's music is better enjoyed with your eyes closed, so I did and I may have nodded off a few times - but I also just gave up caffeine so it was hard.
After the show, it was snowing and we decided that we could probably get a cab at the Denver Diner fairly quickly, and Robert wanted to get some food. In all my partying days I don't think I ever ate at the Denver Diner, so it was a treat for me too. We were able to get a cab fairly quickly after we ate, a group of very drunk gents were getting out and the quote of the night was from one of them. He asked the taxi drive where he was from and the cab driver told him Somalia, and the man in turn said - "your English is muy bueno!" Got a good laugh from Robert, the cab driver and me!
Upon getting back to our car we decided to head to Twisted Sol so B could get a new tattoo, of what you ask? HELLO KITTY (old school) AHHHH, so sweet! But alas, the shop is no longer. So he'll have to get that tattoo another time, but as we were heading home he did exclaim, it was the best date night ever! And a bucket list item came of Robert's list...
