Why do they have pinatas at Applebees?

Also on Monday night, Katharine and I arrived to Applebee's before the rest of the crew and while waiting she asked me why Applebee's had pinatas. I told her they were for beer, as the pinatas were advertising Corona. About 1/2 way through dinner with a clear view of the bar, Katharine exclaimed, "Oh, I know all the adults are going to have a party here and hit the pinata so beer falls out instead of candy!" Yup, that is exactly why Applebee's has pinatas!
