Last night I had the pleasure of dining at the Keg with an amazing group of 14 people organized by my aunt Susie. It was a lovely treat to be surrounded by all adults, have some wine, eat a gourmet dinner without interruption and simply enjoy adult conversation. Not that I don't love my babies...now for the funny stories, or at least I think they are funny enough to blog about.
1. Before dinner started I called home to say good night to the kiddos as I knew I would get home well after their bedtime. I spoke to Katharine and then she passed the phone to Lincoln who did not speak to me. I kept prompting him and still nothing, finally he said, "I not posta talk with food in my mouth!" and of course this was said with a large amount of food in his mouth. I said nice manners and I love you and Lincoln handed the phone off.
2. At a steak house one should order steak so I did, a sirloin accompanied by a small crab cake. The food came out hot and my steak was cooked to perfection. Without realizing what I was doing until my aunt made fun of me by saying, "Oh yeah, you have a 5 and 3 year old - just look at your steak!". Subconsciously I had cut my entire steak into bite sized pieces, oh the mind of a mom! Lots of chuckles from everyone at the table and a clear reminder to me that even surrounded by adults and cocktails, the mom's brain is never turned off!
